Ended up having a great run, 1hr15mins of nonstop obstacles: wind both ways, uneven terrain, tons of hill climbs and any incline/challenging surface I could find, and zero numerical pressures made for a really fun run. This was at the top of a HUGE hill at a local park. Will recap this run with a few great shots I had the pleasure of snapping on the blog later. Coconut-vanilla zeggs with tons and tons of good stuff: tbsp flax/chia powder, 1tbsp QuNaturals quinoa cereal, 1tbsp coconut flour, 1 small grated zucchini, water, coconut extract and vanilla all cooked up, stirred in 3/4c egg whites, added cinnamon and stevia. Topped it with about 1/4c Greek yogurt, 1tbsp cereal, sliced strawberries and banana, almond butter and I made a healthy chocolate sauce with the tbsp-ish amount I had left in my bag of #vega choc-o-lat energizing smoothie powder. Fueling up, need to gain me some muscle, tired of hearing I’m too skinny blah blah like I’m not trying to GAIN LEAN MASS or anything… Gonna run to the gym for pump, it’s been far too long lol #tiuspringfever #bikiniseries #eat #eatclean #healthyfood #healthy #glutenfree #powerbowl #fuel #fitness #fitfood #instafit #food #foodporn #cleaneating

I want this on my wall. Tumblr, especially Fitblrs and Fitspo blogs, are always pushing images of fitness/healthy living that are all about going hardcore, the whole ‘no pain no gain’ mentality. The longer I train, and the more I learn about myself and my own body, the more I realize how skewed and just as detrimental to your health as images in the media that promote a negative body image leading to all kinds of disorders. These messages that are supposed to be positive backfire. I know, for myself at least, that it can make you feel inadequate, it leads to guilt on days you can’t go hard or if you miss a workout whether you had to or just didn’t feel like it that day, it can make you ignore signs your body needs a break, lead to injury and body image/eating issues. I wish there were more messages like this: JUST BE HAPPY. Dream big, live your life, smile, don’t sweat the small stuff, get your sweat on YOUR way. There is no ONE way to do anything. Honor yourself and DO YOU!

#whatsbeautiful is taking the time to slow it down and enjoy the beauty that’s around you. Took the pupperoni for a nice hour long walk through the neighbourhood and trails. Glute/back are still achey, so taking the day as it comes. #IWILL train hard, but also honor my body. Training isn’t always hardcore, it includes the mellow stuff too, slowly but surely learning that lesson. #wakeupandrun is the motto for the summer! This morning I switched it up 2 ways: (1) went music-less (2) threw 5 hill repeats in the middle. Definitely tired me out!
